Each year, a highlight of EnergaCAMERIMAGE is the opportunity to attend screenings of films, documentaries and music videos – many of which go on to win awards including Oscars – as well as insightful seminars and workshops. Canon organises some of the events on offer throughout the week. This year, these include screenings of Nancy Schreiber’s short film, A Dishful of Dollars, and Ember Films’ cinematic trailer, Refugium – both shot with the Canon EOS C700 FF – as well as Canon Ambassador Piotr Małecki's short documentary, George and George on the Lake, made with a Canon EOS C100. All of these films are set to dazzle, while seminars following the screenings will discuss the Cinema EOS cameras' on-set capabilities and the DOPs' creative approaches.

A seminar with double Sundance Cinematography award-winner Nancy Schreiber, ASC, will reveal some of her creative thinking and processes, including how her short film showed off the EOS C700 FF’s broad-ranging tonality and advanced capabilities using a range of anamorphic glass.

Following the Refugium screening, Canon will host a seminar with DOP and Director Jonathan Jones, where he will talk about Ember Films’ creative vision for the post-apocalyptic film and how shooting full-frame helped them to make the eerie, suspense-filled and thought-provoking trailer.

Director and DP Piotr Małecki will discuss his charming short documentary, which used a verité style to follow two friends, George and George, as they go on sailing trips around a lake post-retirement. Piotr will talk about his stylistic choices and well as his experience of working with the Canon EOS C100 equipped with Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 and Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L lenses.

In addition to the screenings by well-known and established filmmakers, Canon will host a session in conjunction with Warsaw Film School to highlight the work done by its students. Here, selected etudes by film students will be screened, followed by a discussion around how the right tools enable cinematographers to realise their daring creative visions. Find Out More.
